Cleansers
Cleansers are a facial skin care product that cleans, and removes dead skin cells, oils and make-up. It helps cleanse the skin (hence the name) of any dirt and unclogs the pores helping to prevent conditions such as acne and pimples. They can also help rebuild some of the skin cells, and make your skin feel soft and smooth.
What about normal soap?
Now at this point your most likely asking why would you spend money on Cleansers when you could just use soap to clean your face? Unlike Cleansers, bar soap is not designed to be used on facial skin. Facial skin is a lot thinner and therefore more sensitive than the rest of the skin on your body, and since bar soap is designed for the body it can often do more damage to your face than good. Because bar soaps pH level (the acidity level) is higher than that of our facial skin, using bar soap can actually encourage bacteria on your face, instead of reducing it. It can also clog up your pores or remove the natural oils on your facial skin that prevent it from losing water. This causes the skin to release more oils than is actually needed. Meaning the skin will become oily, resulting in your pores becoming clogged.
What should I look for?
Whenever possible try to go for natural ingredients in your Cleansers. Artificial ingredients can cause allergic reactions and are not considered to be nearly as good as those with organic ingredients.
Also be aware that there are different Cleansers for different skin types. If you have sensitive skin try to stay away from those with perfumes and essential oils. For those with oily skin, go for a stronger version of cleanser. While those with dry skin may want to go for a cream based version as these are much softer. Be aware that it may take a few tries to get a brand and type that works for you. If your skin feels tights and strained after cleansing, it is because the skin has become dehydrated and you may need a softer product. If you find your skin becomes irritated it can be a good idea to dilate your product by putting a small amount on an already wet face wash before applying to your face. You must always moisturizer after cleansing
A good all skin type version is one with olive oil. Although not particularly common, they are full of natural ingredients and are generally suitable for all skin types. They are recommended for people with sensitive skin or those who are prone to allergies, but as always people who fit into this category should be especially carefully and test themselves before using.
Cleansing is an essential part of keeping your skin looking healthy and fresh and should be incorporated into a daily routine of using both Cleansers and moisturizers, and remember to exfoliate
